The Post Graduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency program at Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital, accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), offers a comprehensive and full-time training experience. The program is designed to prepare pharmacy residents for crucial roles in patient care.

Graduates of this program will be well-rounded practitioners, proficient in a variety of pharmaceutical services including care and management of drug therapies. They will possess the confidence and independence required to manage various patient disease states and drug therapies, positioning themselves as essential contributors within healthcare teams. Furthermore, these pharmacists will be skilled in educating both patients and healthcare professionals about drug therapy, will be capable of serving as mentors to pharmacy students, and will be well-equipped to independently conduct clinical research.

The program emphasizes the development of professional maturity among its residents. This includes fostering self-assessment skills, encouraging proactive learning, and reinforcing a strong commitment to the pharmacy profession.

The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program at Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital enriches residents' experience with distinctive patient care and professional development opportunities. Participants actively engage in direct patient care within the Post-Transplant Clinic and manage the hospital's outpatient anticoagulation consult service. Additionally, they attain certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), furthering their clinical expertise.
